TAH, was created to bridge the gap between luxury craftsmanship and thoughtful functionality. Established in Portland, Oregon in 2015, the idea began to form during founder Angelina Marie’s many walks to work at Nordstrom. During her 17-year career as a buyer and store manager for the retailer, Marie frequently trekked to work in sneakers while lugging multiple bags containing her dressier work shoes, a laptop, and the multitude of necessities women require. Marie knew there had to be a better way and developed TAH’s first prototype, a bag specifically designed for shoes that seamlessly inserted into her work tote. At that moment, TAH, or ‘tote a heel’ was born.
During Marie’s time at Nordstrom she gained valuable feedback on the wants and needs of women when shopping for accessories. Paired with her experience traveling, raising kids of her own, feedback from female friends, and years of sales analysis, TAH naturally evolved into a range of beautifully crafted bags serving all aspects of a woman’s life, from work, to travel, to kids. This attention to detail and expertise in accessories allowed her to create bags that serve the true needs of women, conceptualized from the inside out.
Each bag has been thoughtfully designed to maximize efficiency and organization, with interior pockets ranging from a nylon lined water bottle or umbrella holder, specific detachable pouches for laptops, cell phones, and chargers, as well as the namesake shoe carrier. Multiple bags in the collection such as the Everyday Clutch and The Commuter offer versatility and adaptability, by simply removing or relocating a strap, giving shoppers more bang for their buck.
Beyond the aesthetic design & functionality of each bag in the TAH collection, the brand also takes great pride in sourcing the finest Argentinian full-grain leather, guaranteeing luxury quality, lasting durability, and a beautifully aging material. Each piece in the TAH collection pairs luxurious leathers with durable and lasting solid brass and the smoothest, highest quality made in America G2 zippers.
All bags are handcrafted in the leather capital of Leon, Mexico at a multi-generational family-run business known for a technical expertise that can be seen in each and every stitch, cut, and seam. Absolutely no detail is overlooked in the making of TAH accessories. The uniquely thought out interior configurations, timeless, classic, and versatile design, and exceptional production allow TAH to stand above the rest.
All TAH bags are crafted with Full Grain leather
The Differences Between Full Grain Leather and Top Grain Leather
The Three Main Difference
Quality; Full grain leather is the highest quality grade of leather money can buy. It includes all the natural grain and is much more difficult to work with. This is the reflection in the cost. Top grain leather is thinner and more workable for the manufacture.
Durabilty; The natural surface of full grain leather is unique. It is extremely strong and durable as the natural grain contains the strongest fibers in the hide. Top grain leather is imprinted with a imitation grain to give it a more uniform look. By sanding off the natural grain, they’ve sanded off the strongest fibers in the hide.
Aging; As a full grain leather ages, rather than wear out, it burnishes and beautifies, developing unique character that cannot be easily duplicated. The more you use it the better it looks and feels. The difference in top grain leather is a finish coat applied that provides protection against stains that would otherwise sink right into full grain leather. However, the refinishing process of top grain leather greatly reduces the leather’s breathability, and also prevents the leather from developing a natural patina over time.
The Different Types of Leathers
Full-grain refers to the untouched top layer of the leather hide. The hair on the surface is removed, but the surface remains intact, with no flaws, marks or scratches.
Top-grain is a leather surface that has been sanded to smoothen the hide. The uppermost layer requires some form of treatment to remove imperfections.
Smooth-grain is achieved by removing hair from the uppermost layer of a hide.
Corrected-grain refers to a leather surface that has an artificial grain applied to it.
Split leather refers to the fibrous part of the hide that remains after the top-grain has been separated from the hide.
